Why E-waste Management is Mandatory and Sustainable

Friday, July 27th, 2018

E-waste management is gradually gaining prominence as an essential business process. As companies move towards a technologically advanced set-up, there lies a need to discard the electronic waste in an efficient manner. The awareness to protect the environment has also exponentially increased in the last decade, the result of which has been a more thoughtful industry set-up.

Business trends now focus on the holistic growth of the industry and in-turn the world and E-waste management in Delhi and across India holds far more important than it earlier did.

Efficient and sustainable management of E-waste, as opposed to the abandonment of electronics, has been given prominence since it’s slowly becoming a cause for concern.

As per E-Waste Management Rules, which were notified in October 2016, manufacturers of electric and electronic equipment must facilitate their collection and return it to authorized dismantlers or recyclers instead of simply disposing of it as scrap.

India is slowly becoming one of the largest producers of E-waste and for us as a country, it has become even more essential to discard E-waste properly. The benefits of proper dispersal are numerous, the first among which is health safety.

Benefits of E-waste management

Efficient management of waste of any kind is a good practice and eventually leads to a sustainable methodology. Industry practices are influenced by prevailing trends, future risks and processes in respect to individual budgets. The effort to make E-waste management a wide-spread practice, especially in India, is bound to have long-lasting impact on industry trends. What today is a new practice, will eventually become a norm.

How should one manage E-waste?

There are multiple ways to manage e-waste, from unorganized methods to methods which are beneficial to all. For an effective e-waste management system, it’s imperative to first understand how much e-waste is collected and kind of waste collected.

It is ideal to employ an expert agency in e-waste management since the process involves sensitive data, health hazards and a huge amount of time and investment. An organization focused on e-waste management can help manage the waste better and smoothly without putting additional pressure on an existing organisation’s resources.

The Indian government is also doing its bit to encourage organisations to dispose of their e-waste properly without causing harm to the environment.
